Extra Work

I picked up two extra days Saturday and Sunday both doing easier work then I usually do and pays time and a half so if I get to work both days it's an extra 1k if not I'm happy with $500. We'll just use it for our 4 day weekend over memorial day instead of using our vacation fund.

Hubby told me his brother wants to come visit us and we'll need to finalize when that is going to be so we can get the bedroom ready. I'm hoping to do that next week for sure.

What's going on here

Hubby and I took a long walk on a local hiking trail and he hit a few golf balls at the driving range as the weather was perfect yesterday, of course it's now supposed to rain for a few days then be nice again for a few days.

We have no plans to hike yet although I'd love to try it this month I just need the weather to cooperate.

I've paid all our bills and we are whittling things down and getting our freedom accounts filled up slowly. We have 5 of them fully funded so far and we are close to fully funded on a few more. It's a slow process but at least we have the money in case we need it.

Long time no see

It's been a very busy past week or so, the weather was finally nice as in 90 degrees nice and we both had one day off to enjoy it together, we had a long walk in the sunshine...

Nothing else going on now as we are back to pouring rain for another 10 days and cool weather if we are lucky we will have some sunshine at the end of next week which of course is about when I work..

Thursday is payday and I'll be doing all our bills that day.

Walking

We did a 2 mile walk yesterday and both did great! So far my back and hip have been good and I haven't had to take any anti-inflammatory medications for a week now.

The weather is supposed to get nice starting Tuesday and I'm looking forward to walking every day I can while it's sunny or even partly sunny.

We still haven't settled on what we are doing for our vacation so we may be winging it when the time comes..

Random Thoughts

I didn't work yesterday which will put a large dent in our budget come May but there is nothing I could do about it, it's part of my job.

I'm still going to keep adding to our savings account as I'd like to get as much in there as possible preferably at least 5k and we are at almost 2500 right now. It's coming on the slow time for my job where I could potentially work less hours (it's pretty much a given) and that will slow our savings down a lot.

Hubby applied for a different job and although he's semi-qualified we won't know anything until next month. I'd love it since he'd be working days....YEAH!!

We have been walking in our neighborhood in between rain showers and so far we have been careful to go slow and not aggravate my back.

We have only gone out to eat once for lunch this week, which for us is a bonus!!!!

It's D O N E !!

YES!!! We are done with BEF and our FF Sinking funds :-) 

Off to the next step. Which since my work is mainly winter time, we might have to scale back during the summer but I'm going to keep plugging away.

We have plans to attempt to do a small short hike, I'm hoping my back will allow this but I just need to be outside while the weather is nice.

I'm going to take one car in today to have the maintenance done and hopefully take the other one in tomorrow morning to have it done, then we are done for awhile with car stuff. I'm hoping I can just fund this out of regular checking since I did do some overtime and it's on this paycheck.

As I previously said I'm giving hubby $200 to spend as he wishes from refund. I'm going to buy some amazon gift cards with my $158 and DS his birthday gift with the rest. He hasn't told us where he would like to go eat at yet..

Tax Refund and Spending

Our refund is scheduled to be put in the bank Friday, I have plans for all of it. $1,000 will fill up our BEF, and the rest will be split between hubby and myself to spend, he gets $200 I get $158. He's buying fish stuff, I'm getting kindle book cards.

We will have a fully funded sinking fund by the end of this month, we have been saving for this and figured if we had to use some for emergency we would, but we haven't had to.

We do have auto maintenance we will be doing with some of the sinking fund money but I hope to have it refilled by the first paycheck in May.

We have days off together at the end of May and I hope to use some of our camping money to take a couple of days to go camping, weather permitting of course.

I'm most likely going to go to California for a work related trip the first part of May, and honestly I think I'm excited to go, I'm sure it will be fun.

Looking forward to some warm weather hiking if I can fit it in..

Update

It seems all we have been doing is work, so there is not much to talk about really.

DS is doing fine with his cast and will have it removed at the end of this month, although I do still need to make an appointment for that.

I have paid bills this past week, sent snowball to debt and found out how much we will be getting back in our income tax refund.

The refund will be used for BEF since I'm probably going to have to see a lawyer regarding my appeal on my L&I claim, I'm sure they are going to be nasty about the doctor wanting to reopen my case, especially since I heard they usually are. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it I guess.

I've done a bit of overtime this pay period so next check will be not to bad, we'll be using some of it for DS-Y birthday this month and I promised DH $200 from our refund to spend as he wishes. I'll be snowballing the rest.

Weather as usual is horrible right now and I am unable to hike or take very long walks right now so I'm bummed about both of those.

Nice and Black.

Well my son decided on a black cast and he has to wear it for 5 weeks so he'll have it on over his birthday next month. The doctor gave him a choice splint or cast and he chose cast....

In other news, not much else going on around here, payday is next Thursday and I'll do bills at that time, we have major plans for the weekend and spring break is the first full week of April although I don't think we are doing anything as the weather is still wishy washy....

Another Set Back

  Well day before yesterday my son comes home from school saying he had collided with another boy on recess and his thumb hurt, minor swelling not to bed, lets put ice on it.

  The next morning I look at it before he heads to school still minor swelling, keep some ice on it. I get a call from the school nurse that day, it's pretty swollen she tells me, I'm thinking well I looked at it this morning it wasn't bad, but I'll look at it again when I get home. 

  I get home, WOOOWW, momma his entire hand is swollen, I'm like well that's different, so off to the night clinic we head....

And he has a Salter II fracture at the base of his right thumb!!

See's the doctor Friday for a cast!!!!

This kid has more broken bones then both is older brothers combined! :-)

Oh, did I mention we have sucky insurance and a 6K deductible.. Oh well has to be fixed....

Payday and goals

Well Payday was Thursday, paid all our bills, sent some extra to Citi Card, and now because our weather is as usual crappy, we just hang around until we can all get a day off with fairly nice weather so we can do something as a family...

I really hate this state.. but since we have plans to move to a better climate our first goal is to pay things off asap so we can accomplish that goal..

Long time no see!

Sorry for the absence we have been busy working and really doing not much else, hubby was sick for about a week with a cold and basically stayed home and vegetated.

Tomorrow is Payday and I will be having a small amount of overtime, but I won't know how much until then. I also will be having about 6 hours of overtime on my next check which will be nice since our anniversary is at the end of this month and I'd like to do something that weekend.

Our son's birthday is next month and we'll need to be looking at what he wants to do for that day also, it's in the middle of the week so we will have to do a weekend.

I still have money left over in our envelopes since we have both worked so much we really didn't spend very much money, in fact hubby went to see a movie using recreation cash and we barely noticed. I'll be moving that to our extra funds envelope on Thursday like I usually do and we decide what to do with it later..

Payday

Thursday was payday so I paid all the bills and took cash out for our envelopes, I'm still having trouble with hubby wanting to buy things, so I guess it's time to sit down and rehash our long term plans with him.

He tells me he wants to move to a warmer place but always wants to buy stuff so we'll have to have a chat about what he really wants long term, I have cut back on buy books and would love to have him cut back on his aquarium stuff especially since it's way more expensive then books...

Here's to hoping

that the rain slows down before it floods again!!

It's supposed to be partly sunny this weekend, which of course is both our weekends to work so that leaves doing anything pretty much out. But if I can get hubby up and moving in the afternoon maybe we can get the dogs out for a nice walk...

I've gotten my new computer and both having sound is just amazing!!

We are back

to our regularly scheduled pouring rain!


We did absolutely nothing this past weekend even though it was our weekend off since it has done nothing but pour, have high winds and major flood watches, so we decided to err on the side of caution and sit at home. We did get a few home related things done and now we are both of to work me for 4 days and hubby for 6 days so we won't be doing much of anything until our next days off.


I do need to make an appointment with out tax lady and we'll try to get out to see her hopefully not this weekend but the next one to give her our tax stuff, unless I can get her daughter to take it out to her next time she goes to see her.


I can't believe it's almost March already and here's to hoping we finally get some dry weather and sunshine!!

Working the budget

So we got paid and I took money out for all our envelopes and so far it's going good, we have been pretty careful about using what is in our envelopes and not really touching the checking account. I was able to triple pay each of our envelopes since I worked some over time and wanted to make sure and get them up and running since I know we will have some expenses coming up that we will need the envelopes for.


On the down side, it's been raining and snowing here so we haven't done any outdoor activities, although my Sciatica has been bothering me pretty bad and I've been having trouble walking, I did finally go to the doctor and she wants me to have an injection to see if that will help. I'm pondering that thought though not sure I'm ready for any shots in my back..

Trying to get back to normal

So we've been back a couple of weeks now and are still trying to get things back to normal.


There were a lot of things that needed done when we got home, a tree has fallen down in our back yard, litter boxes changed, house to clean things that happen when you leave a 23 year old male alone in a house for 2 weeks, but he did a great job keeping DH fish alive in his tank so we're happy with that.


We haven't really done much with our finances yet since we haven't gotten paid since we came back, but we do have our budget set up and envelopes are all set some even with some money in them already!


We will be doing our first budget on the 13th and we will hopefully have some money left over although I do know it takes 3-6 months to get a set budget! Here's hoping for a faster one.....

Still in texas

So my hubby and I are still in Texas since his father passed away. We are dealing with the after affects of him leaving very little money at all to my mother in law. We are going thru houses to see what can be sold at garage sales. It has made us look hard at our finances and we have decided to get rid of all our debt ASAP, since we already are fans of Dave Ramsey we are going to work on doing a debt snowball. I'll have to wait until we get back to post more about our decisions but since we have this we can't really help my mother in law much which makes us sad.

New Years Day

Well it started out fairly good, but ended badly when my father in law passed away that night. So off to Texas we will be going as soon as arrangement's are made for his funeral. I'm guessing we'll have to be gone for at least 10 days total due to everything we have to get done.
